Cats are the subject of many urban legends, tales and myths. Lets debunk some of these commonly held beliefs about cats ...
1. Cats always land on their feet
Sometimes true, but not always! Cats are likely to be injured from shorter falls, since they don’t have enough time to twist and turn their bodies appropriately.
2. Cats hate water
Although cats do not enjoy forced baths, many cats find water fascinating and will spend time pawing at a dripping faucet, or playing with puddles of water.
3. Cats are low maintenance pets
Although cat owners may not need to be as active as dog owners, cats are by no means low-maintenance. Cats need lots of love, attention, and care to stay healthy and happy.
4. Indoor cats don’t need to see a vet
Even cats who never roam around outside can still be exposed to diseases, e.g. via contact with insects and rodents that can be present indoors.
5. Cats only purr when happy
Partially true. Cats do purr when they’re happy, but they also purr when they’re in pain or experiencing extreme illness.
6. Cats are nocturnal
Cats are crepuscular, which means they are at their most active early in the morning and early in the evening.
