A family from Narooma, NSW, Australia have been joyfully reunited with their pet cat after he fled the family home as bushfires threatened their community.
"Tank" was missing for five months, during which he managed to survive but ended up malnourished from his ordeal. He went missing during the Black Summer bushfires in January, which destroyed homes to the north, south and west of Narooma. Tank had wandered 14km from home and was found after someone posted a picture of him to Facebook.
Tank has been eating multiple meals a day to fatten him up after months lost in the wild. Tank's return was a welcome boost to the family after months of uncertainty and the trauma of driving out of the town as fires burned at the roadside.
